Morphologies and magnetic properties of dysprosium doped copper ferrite by changing the types of chelating agent

摘要

A new way of preparing dysprosium doped copper ferrite (CuFe2-xDyxO4) nanoparticles has been developed using the novel method. The effect of different chelating agents like glucose, lactose and starch on the morphology and particle size of the products has been investigated. In this work, we have chosen copper nitrate, iron nitrate and dysprosium nitrate as starting reagents. The formation of pure crystallized CuFe2-xDyxO4 nanoparticles occurred when the precursor was heat treated at 800 degrees C in air for 2 h. The structural, morphological and optical properties of as-obtained products were characterized by techniques such as XRD, EDS, SEM, and UV-visible. The magnetic properties of as-prepared CuFe2-xDyxO4 nanoparticles were also investigated with vibrating sample magnetometer. To evaluate the photocatalyst properties of nanocrystalline CuFe2-xDyxO4, the photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange under ultraviolet light irradiation was carried out.
