A two-dimensional Co-II coordination polymer with the ligand 1,1 '-bis[(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)methyl]ferrocene

In the title polymer, poly[[aquabis{mu(2)-1,1'-bis[(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl) methyl] ferrocene-kappa N-2(4):N-4'} ethanolcobalt(II)] bis(perchlorate) ethanol trisolvate], {[CoFe2(C8H8N3)(4)(C2H6O)(H2O)](ClO4)(2)center dot 3C(6)H(6)O}(n) or {[Co(btmf)(2)(EtOH)(H2O)](ClO4)(2)center dot 3EtOH}(n), where btmf is the ferrocene-containing ligand, the Co-II ion is six-coordinated by four N atoms from btmf ligands, one O atom from a water molecule and one O atom from an ethanol molecule. The btmf ligands connect the Co-II ions to form layers and these layers are organized by hydrogen bonds, expanding the crystal structure to a three-dimensional supramolecular network.
