A New Zn(II) Coordination Polymer With Helical Character: Synthesis and Crystal Structure

A new Zn(II) coordination polymer with and has been prepared by hydrothermal synthesis and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, IR, and element analysis. Complex [Zn(bda)(bpa)](n) (1) [H(2)bda = 2,4-biphenyl-dicarboxylic acid, and bpa = bis(4-pyridyl)amine is monoclinic, space group P2(1)/c with a = 16.518(5), b = 8.600 (5), c = 16.819 (5) angstrom, = 115.318 (5)degrees, V = 2159.7 (16) angstrom(3), Z = 4, M-r = 476.78, D-c = 1.466g/cm(3), F(000) = 976, and = 1.173mm(-1). The final refinement gave R = 0.0355 and wR = 0.0670 for 2534 reflections with I > 2 sigma(I). X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that the complex 1 displays a two-dimensional structure with helical chain substructure.
