摘要
The symbol has always been considered the most important trope in romantic poetics because it leads to harmony and unity of the subjective and objective worlds. This paper challenges the fantasy by inquiring into the creating process of the symbol in romantic poetics in a deconstructive way, claiming that the symbol does not always demonstrate the ideal fusion of the subject and the object. Far from that, it merely reflects the subject's personal understanding of the world, and how the subject manipulates language to cater to his poetry.
