A MULTIBAND MONOPOLE ANTENNA FOR MOBILE HANDSETS

A multiband monopole antenna with wideband characteristic is proposed for CDMA/GSM900/DCS1800/PCS1900/UMTS/IMT2000/Wibro/WiMAX2350 applications. By using a stripline-loaded structure, L-shaped slots in the ground plane and tapered feeding line, wideband characteristic can he achieved. The proposed antenna occupies a volume of 39.7 x 8.3 x 11 mm(3) barring the ground plane. Moreover, it has good omni-directional radiation characteristics within its operation band. A prototype has been fabricated and tested, and the experimental results validate the design procedure.
