Two different shapes, one irregular and another ball-like shapes, of LAST-m (LAST for Lead Antimony Silver Tellurium, m=10, 12, 14, 16, 18) nanopowders were prepared by hydrothermal synthesis method using AgNO3, Pb(NO3)(2), Sb(NO3)(3) and Te powder as starting materials. The analyses of TEM and XRD show that LAST-m family has sodium chloride crystal structure and its grain size is around 40 nm. The SAED analysis shows that all LAST-m powders are single crystalline. LAST-18 composite bulk sample was pressurelessly sintered using the irregular powder as an example, and thermoelectric properties of this sintered sample were measured from room temperature to similar to 73 K.
