Analysis of Interrow Coupling Flutter of Multistage Blade Row

This: paper gives the flutter analysis for a model of aerodynamically coupled five blade rows in which three rotor cascades are simultaneously vibrating. The displacement of a blade vibrating under aerodynamic force is expanded in a modal series with the natural mode shape functions, and the modal amplitudes are treated as the generalized coordinates. The inertial forces and elastic forces are formulated on the basis of the finite element method. The aerodynamic forces are evaluated by applying the unsteady lifting-surface theory for multistage blade rows. The numerical results are presented. It is shown that the risk of flutter occurrence for the model of five blade rows is higher than that for the model of three blade rows previously studied.
