(Tris{2-[(5-hydroxypyridin-2-yl-kappa N)methylideneimino-kappa N]ethyl}amine)zinc dinitrate

In the complex cation of the title compound, [Zn(C24H27N7O3)](NO3)(2), the tripodal tris{[2-(5-hydroxypyridin-2-yl)methylideneimino]ethyl}amine ligand is coordinated to the Zn atom through the three pyridine and three imino N atoms. The coordination sphere of the Zn atom is based on an octahedron with a significant distortion towards trigonal prismatic, the twist angle being 45.58 (9)degrees. The crystal packing is formed by L and D antipodes arranged in layers disposed parallel to the b axis. Strong O-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bonding exists between the hydroxy groups of the ligand and the nitrate anion.
