摘要

A novel fractal defected ground structure (DGS) for the microstrip line is proposed. The DGS unit lattice is realized by replacing the etched rectangular holes in ground plane with a Sierpinski carpet. The proposed fractal DGS can provide better bandgap, slow-wave characteristics, and selectivity at cutoff than the conventional dumbbell-shaped DGS. Furthermore, the fractal DGS is applied effectively to design a low-pass filter (LPF). A comparison between simulation and measurement confirms the validity of the LPF configuration and design procedure. A simple structure and high-power handling capability, are obtained from the proposed LPF.
