摘要

The main purpose of processes of severe plastic deformation is to improve material properties. Therefore, the formulation of the equations which govern the evolution of these properties at large strains is an outstanding problem in plasticity theory. This article concentrates on the evolution equation for average grain size. A general theoretical framework includes three qualitatively different types of the evolution equation. A set of experiments feasible for practical realization is proposed to reveal this or that qualitative feature of theoretical solutions based on the different types of the evolution equation. An approximate analytic solution for high-pressure torsion is combined with available experimental data to specify some functions involved in the new evolution equation. An approximate analytic solution for plane strain extrusion is used to illustrate an effect of some parameters involved in the evolution equation on the distribution of average grain size in the final product.
