摘要

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have many potential applications due to their unique structural, physical and electronic properties. Arc-discharge in liquid method is developed to synthesize many kinds of nanocarbon structures. This technique is considered a low-cost method. Here, a full-automatic arc-discharge set-up was used for fabrication of CNTs, and subsequently a modified acid treatment method was applied for the purification stage. To optimize the process, a statistical design of experiments (DOE; Taguchi method) was implemented in this study. As the result of this analysis, voltage and catalyst were the most influencing parameters on the yield product of CNTs. The maximum product yield of CNTs was obtained. Furthermore, a linear model was established by subjecting the transformed values of independent variables to multiple linear regression (MLR) analysis. Finally, the scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were utilized to study the morphology of these CNTs.
