摘要

New insights from basic research and clinical studies brought into focus both long-known and new classes of drugs as adjuvants in postoperative pain therapy. Thus, pregabalin, gabapentin and ketamine are promising in the context of hyperalgesic postoperative pain. Beyond that, the application of local anaesthetics by wound or intraarticular catheters is an interesting new technique for postoperative pain relief. However, despite these advances and published guidelines, postoperative pain therapy still needs improvement. Pain assessment plays a key role in successful balanced or procedure specific analgesia concepts. Based on the recommendations of the PROSPECT project and the S3-Guideline for the treatment of acute perioperative and posttraumatic pain, future context-sensitive analgesia concepts should be tailored to suit surgical requirements, patient's needs and institutional resources alike.
