摘要
Certain matrix metalloproteinases like MMP-11 (Stromelysin-3) and MMP-7 (Matrilysin) are reported to be highly expressed in breast cancer, so they may act as marker enzymes for breast cancer progression. Hyperimmune sera were raised against heterologously expressed recombinant canine MMP-11 in rabbits and guinea pigs to standardize sandwich ELISA (sELISA) for relative quantification of circulating MMP-11 for the diagnosis of canine mammary tumor (n = 50). The test was found to be 98 % sensitive and 92 % specific at receiver-operating characteristics (ROC) with respect to histopathological staining in diagnosing canine mammary tumors. The area under the ROC curve (AUC) of rMMP-11 based sELISA, which represented a summary statistics of the overall diagnostic performance of the test also indicated that it could be used as a suitable test for diagnosing mammary neoplasms.
