摘要

Simulators are an essential resource for training, operation and engineering at industrial facilities. This paper outlines sugar factory simulators currently used for the training of control room operators. The main aim of simulators is to invest operators with enough knowledge of the process and its control system to be able to respond promptly to dangerous situations, identify possible problems and their solutions and to manage the process in an optimum way from the economic point of view. These simulators are systems based on mathematical simulation models and conventional man-machine interfaces executed in real or scaled time. The paper describes software and hardware requirements of two types of training simulators, "full scale simulators" for the complete factory and "standalone simulators" for specific operating units. A set of programming tools, which allow a simulator to be developed for any other sugar factory, are also shown. The simulators were developed by the Sugar Technology Center (University of Valladolid) with the collaboration of the two main Spanish sugar producers ('Azucarera Ebro S.L' and `ACOR').
