摘要

This paper presents the application of infrared spectroscopy in conjunction with chemometric methods for quality control in adhesive manufacturing. From 105 infrared spectra of pressure-sensitive adhesive samples of different formulations, employing principal component analysis (PCA), it was possible the separation in four groups. By using partial least squares regression (PLS), the solid contents of 28 samples of water-based adhesive were determined. The interval-PLS (iPLS) was used for the determination of the viscosity of 73 solvent-based adhesive samples, with errors less than 7% in both cases. These results indicate the feasibility of employing ATR-FTIR and chemometrics as an attractive alternative for quality control in adhesive manufacturing.
