Let L be the set of integers n which can be written as @@@ n = p(1)(3) + p(2)(3) + p(3)(3) + p(4)(3). @@@ Using the circle method and sieves, we prove that Sigma(N<n <= N+Y,n is an element of L) 1 >= gamma Y holds for Y = N-17/18, where gamma > 0 is an absolute constant.
