We report a simple synthetic approach to various conformationally constrained bicyclic alpha-amino acid derivatives using the Diels-Alder reaction as a key step. Moreover, we have investigated the reactivity pattern of various anthracene derivatives in relation to the Diels-Alder chemistry.
