The histologic patterns of diffuse alveolar damage, bronchiolitis obliterans with organizing pneumonia and eosinophilic pneumonia are well-recognized histologic patterns of lung injury associated with an acute or subacute clinical presentation. Acute fibrinous and organizing pneumonia is a histologic pattern associated with a clinical picture of acute lung injury that differs from the classic histologic patterns of diffuse alveolar damage, bronchiolitis obliterans with organizing pneumonia or eosinophilic pneumonia.
We present the case of a 1.8 old-year child, in which fibrinous and organizing pneumonia appear in posttraumatic (cranio-cerebral) state in general infectious condition. Within the death certificate we find a lot of information regarding the person who commits suicide; this makes the death certificate an important too] in suicide research. Yet these data may be sometimes inaccurate (as the present paper demonstrates). Therefore it is of outmost importance to correlate the data comprised in the death certificate with those obtained by using other investigative methods.
