A convenient synthesis of N,N-bis(trifluoromethyl)anilines by means of dediazotation reactions of previously unknown aryldiazoniumbis(trifluoromethyl)imides in the presence of Cu-I salts are described. Properties and applications of N,N-bis(trifluoromethyl)anilines in syntheses of aromatic compounds containing the (CF3)(2)N group are presented.
