摘要

The effect of limewater on compressive strength and setting time of ZrO2 nanoparticle-blended cementitious composite has been investigated. ZrO2 nanoparticles with partial replacement of cement by 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 wt% have been used as nano-fillers. Curing of the specimens has been carried out in water and saturated limewater for 7, 28, and 90 days after casting. The results indicate that ZrO2 nanoparticles up to maximum replacement level of 2.0% produce a cementitious composite with improved compressive strength and setting time when the specimens cured in saturated limewater. The optimum level of replacement for curing specimens in water is 1.0 wt%. ZrO2 nanoparticles can improve the filler effect and also the high pozzolanic action of fine particles increases substantially the quantity of strengthening gel. Although the limewater reduces the strength of cementitious composite without nanoparticles, curing the specimens in saturated limewater results in the formation of larger amounts of strengthening gel around ZrO2 nanoparticle-blended cementitious composite and leads to more rapid setting time together with high strength.
