Dry eve syndrome is one of the most frequent diagnoses in ophthalmology becoming a severe disorder on the eve's surface that may deteriorate the patient's quality of life depending on its severity.
The most frequent symptoms referred by patients are irritation, a feeling of a foreign body or sand in the eyes, presence of filamentous mucosities., transitory blurred vision, acute piercing pain and difficulty far eye opening in the morning. A common symptom, and apparently contradictory for dry eye, is the constant tearing, circumstance that occurs due to a reflex generally provoked by a corneal injury
In community pharmacies, dry eye is a frequent consultation, and in numerous occasions the pharmacist acts as the first health care agent
The purpose of this cuticle is to review the concepts related to this pathology based on its diagnosis and treatment, especially in reference to the new therapeutic advances
