Affordance of Ubiquitous Learning through Cloud Computing

The affordance of mobile technologies makes education more pervasive and equitable. However, mobile learning technologies still pose challenges to non-technical educational practitioners. A generic mobile learning framework was developed that allowed instructors to author mobile learning contents. This paper identifies and discusses some benefits, challenges, and barriers that may face instructors in constructing a ubiquitous learning environment. It also proposes several suggestions for what can be done to promote ubiquitous learning. We go through a full-life cycle of designing and developing mobile learning that allows instructors to harness the power of cloud computing and take advantage of emerging technologies. We discuss the evaluation of such a generic mobile learning framework and outline its future directions.
