Aerobic Bacterial Flora of Nasal Cavity of Seven Giant Pandas (Ailuropoda melanoleuca)

The nasal bacterial flora of seven giant pandas was identified by 16S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) gene sequencing analysis. The most widely occurring species were Staphylococcus and Escherichia colt. Several species not known to be associated with giant pandas were present in the study including Pantoea agglomerans, Corynebacterium auriscanis, Kurthia gibsonii and Corynebacterium glutamicum.
