摘要

A methodology for the implementation of set-based design communications and negotiations in the conceptual ship design phase is outlined. The newly developed methodology relies on a hybrid agent type-1 fuzzy logic system (FLS). The hybridization stems from the use of human designers who fulfill agent roles by interacting with a computational fuzzy logic system, graphical user interfaces, and a networked software tool. The authors outline the motivation for the development of the hybrid agent set based type-1 FLS, including the differences and benefits between point-based and set-based design methods. Details of the hybrid agent FLS components, as well as the communications and negotiations process, are also discussed. Conceptual container ship designs were performed in order to verify the functionality of the method and associated tools. The results show the ability of the hybrid agent type-1 FLS to facilitate the core set-based design values of set-based communication and gradual narrowing of the solution space. The FLS method was also compared to an unstructured chat window, Internet based, communications method commonly used by design groups working from multiple locations. A comparison of the two methods showed the structured FLS to be more capable of facilitating SBD qualities than the chat window method.
