摘要

Bluetooth is a wireless personal area network standard with frequency hopping technology over the 2.4 GHz band. At most 8 devices are synchronized in a piconet, which is sometimes used as a building block for a larger network, called scatternet. In this paper, we proposed a cluster-based scatternet formation protocol, in short CluScat, proposed for the case that nodes are distributed in multi-hop distance. CluScat assures the connectivity of the resulted topology and bounds the number of slaves in a piconet to 7, which have been hardly supported by other methods, in previous work. Moreover, CluScat is designed to be scalable in node density, too. We compared the topology performance of CluScat with Blue Mesh, which is known to be one of the best scatternet formation schemes. The evaluation shows that our method outperforms Blue Mesh in scalability as well as communication overhead in general.
