摘要

The effect of local environment of tellurium atoms on the acid-base behaviour of ZnO-TeO(2) glasses has been clarified through the estimation of the group basicity A of different Te-O species from refractive index based optical basicity Lambda(n(0)) by means of their fractions in the glass structure. It has been found that group basicity decreases in the sequence: lambda(-)(TeO4)>lambda TeO(40)>lambda(TeO32-)>lambda(TeO3-), where TeO(4)(-), TeO(4)(o), TeO(3)(-) and TeO(3)(2-) denote TeO(4) unit with one nonbridging oxygen, TeO(4) unit without nonbridging oxygen, terminal TeO(3) unit with two nonbridging oxygens and isolated TeO(3) unit with three nonbridging oxygens, respectively. Zinc tellurite glasses possess large optical basicity above 0.91 which demonstrates their basic nature. It has been proposed that the optical basicity of ZnO-TeO(2) glasses decreases with increasing modifier content due to the formation of TeO(3) groups in the structure which possess lower group optical basicity than that of TeO(4) groups.
