A novel algorithm for identifying protein community based on node-expand model

The community in Protein-protein Interaction (PPI) networks is crucial to understand principles of cellular organizations and predict protein functions. And identifying protein community from proteinprotein interaction networks is a considerable research topic. In this paper, we propose a novel algorithm to identify communitys in PPI networks. And we analyze the influence of parameter setting on size and quantity of communities. Experimental results show the novel algorithm can detect meaningful communities which are annotated with GO terms. The algorithm can assign proteins with similar functions to a community more accurately.
