摘要

Due to the increased inevitability of non-linear loads caused by transformation of life style and industrial requirements, power quality becomes a major anxiety. This article enlightens steady state and transient state analysis of a shunt active power filter in the piece of load. A novel nine-level cascaded inverter topology is employed as shunt active power filter. The proposed topology is framed with reduction in switches, which results in condensed switching power loss. A controller with transmutation in instantaneous active and reactive power control has been incorporated to cancel out the reactive current by the non-linear load to achieve reactive power compensation. The proposed controller amalgamates a low pass filter to ensure the reduction in total harmonic distortion of grid voltages. The proposed control theory based compensation results have been compared with conventional p-q theory. The steady and transient state analyses were carried out using MATLAB/Simulink software. Simulation results distinctly show that the proposed controller produces an effective upshot as the source currents adhere to IEEE 519 Harmonic standards.
