We show that, assuming Martin%26apos;s Axiom MA, there is a nonlinear maximal group topology. That is, assuming MA, there is an ultrafilter u on circle plus(w) Z(2) such that the filter N = {A U {0} A is an element of u} has no base consisting of subgroups, but for every U is an element of N, there is V is an element of N such that V + V subset of U. 2012 Elsevier Inc.
