摘要

The performance of MBOK (M-ary bi-orthogonal keying) systems (including equalization and coding) was analyzed to provide a theoretical tool for ultra wideband modulation system design using information theory. This MBOK system utilizes frequency domain equalization (FDE) for diversity gains and MBOK despreading to reduce FDE residual interference. The residual inter-symbol interference after MBOK despreading in an AWGN (additive white Gaussian noise) is given by an explicit achievable rate expression for MBOK modulation. The achievable rate analysis shows that the MBOK modulation system not only has a low power average peak ratio, but also a high power efficiency which outperforms OFDM (orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) systems by about 1 dB in a UWB (ultra wide band) CM4 channel.
