A novel two-dimensional mixed-metal coordination polymer, [Fe(bipe)(Au(CN)(2))(2)center dot MeOH], composed of polyrotaxane with Fe-2(bipe)(2) loops and rigid [Au(CN)(2)](-) rods, forms a 2D -> 2D parallel interpenetrating structure. The two networks are clipped by gold clusters via aurophilic interaction.
