摘要

Leakage channels of contact mechanical face seals have significant influence on sealing performance. The porosity of initial sealing interface is obtained based on the fractal parameters of rotating and stationary rings firstly. The effects of fractal parameters, material properties and face pressure on porosity of sealing interface are revealed, and then the percolation assumption for single grid model of sealing interface is proposed. Finally, a leakage channel model based on the volume porosity of sealing interface is established and investigated accordingly. The proposed research is expected to provide the basis for the explanation of leakage and optimum design of contact mechanical face seals.
