摘要

A novel simple method to prepare ZnS whiskers is brought forward by means of the calcination of zinc sulphate, KCl and active carbon in high temperature without protective atmosphere. This method is an environmental benign process without any intractable byproduct discharged. The products were mainly composed of two kinds of whiskers: belts and long hollow prisms with aspect ratio up to 70. The product was characterized with XRD and SEM. XRD patterns show that the product was completely composed of Wurtzite-structured ZnS. It is believed that whiskers grew from the reaction between CO and the melt of KCl and ZnSO4. KCl and active carbon are believed to play important roles in the process of whiskers growth.
