摘要
Developing a fundamental understanding of a problem is an integral part of APL's system engineering process. Since the 1940s, the Laboratory has used its warfare analysis capability to analyze military needs for the future, to evolve appropriate requirements to meet those needs, and to evaluate alternative solutions to meet those requirements. Information developed from APL warfare analysis contributed to important decisions which shared our military forces. APL warfare analysis also contributed to the development of analytical tools and collaborative analysis techniques that have been widely shared and adapted within the defense analytical community. This article describes the origins and evolution of warfare analysis at the Laboratory and how it has been applied to a wide range of problems.
