Avalanche Impact into a Reservoir - Comparison of Numerical and Physical Model

In view of a complete risk analysis, the potential danger of an avalanche impact into a reservoir and the induced impulse wave has to be scrutinised. In order to prevent an impulse wave to overflow the dam, the critical water level in the reservoir has to be known. By using an exemplary weir this research study gives a summary of the results of a comparison of the physical model versus the numerical simulations. The intention is to prove the equality of the numerical and the physical model for this special problem.
