摘要

A note on the letter ';Improved method to individualize head-related transfer function using anthropometric measurements'; by Song Xu and Zhizhong Li is presented. The authors proposed the use of position-specific basis functions in head-related transfer HRTF) individualization on the basis of listeners'; anthropometric measurements and provided a statistical test proving that the improved method could significantly reduce spectral distortion at the selected positions. Inoue and co-researchers and Nishino and coworkers focused on a simpler and more useful method that investigates the relationship between HRTFs and physical size by multiple regression analysis. In this letter, the authors predict that the methods of establishing the basis functions, which are used to reconstruct HRTFs in the HRTF model based on principal components analysis (PCA) and minimum-phase reconstruction, significantly affect the spectral distortions of the model.
