摘要

The reaction between Cd(II) and sulfide was monitored by voltammetry. To slow the precipitation of bulk CdS, experiments were conducted in the presence of ligands, of which cysteine was the most effective. A voltammetric signal obtained for the CdS(aq) product was largest when [S(-II)]=1/2[Cd(II)] and was enhanced through adsorptive stripping voltammetry. The mechanism of CdS(aq) adsorption on the working electrode surface and subsequent Cd( II) reduction was determined. Size exclusion chromatography demonstrated that the CdS(aq) complex giving the voltammetric signal was from a species intermediate in size between nanoparticles (>3 nm diameter) and cysteine, indicating the voltammetric response is size dependent.
