A hydrogen-bonded and pi-pi assembled 3D supramolecular network, [Co(en)(3)]center dot 1.5(C5O5), with 1D microporous hydrophilic channels showing reversible water ad/de-sorption property

摘要

A racemic complex, (+/-)-[Co(en)(3)]center dot 1.5(C5O5)center dot 3H(2)O (1), has been synthesized and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction method. Structural determination reveals that the 3D supramolecular architecture of 1 is constructed by the subtle combination of intermolecular hydrogen bonding between the (+/-)-[Co(en)(3)](3+) cations and croconate dianions (C5O52-) and pi center dot center dot center dot pi assembling between the croconate dianions. The hydrophilic 1D channels surrounded by polar pore-walls in its 3D network show a water-only absorption property with reversible de-/re-hydration processes which undergo a reversible polycrystalline transformation demonstrated by in situ PXRD measurements.
