摘要

Sodium borate glass containing Cu2+ ions was codoped with a variety of metallic or nonmetallic cations, and the ligand field around Cu2+ was examined by optical absorption and electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopies. Glasses of 0.1CuO center dot 5Na(2)O center dot 95B(2)O(3) + 2MO(x) were prepared by a melt quenching method. The observed strengthening of the ligand field (defined as the blueshift of Cu2+-optical absorption band) was in the order: P5+%26lt;Si4+ = La3+ (No effect)%26lt;Al3+ = Ti4+ = Ga3+ = Nb5+ %26lt;Y3+ %26lt;Zr4+ %26lt;Hf4+. We found that metallic cations having high field strength (Z/r) and high ionicity, Zr4+ and Hf4+, induce a large change in the local structure around Cu2+, while cations with high Z/r but low ionicity have almost no effect on the ligand field.
