N '-(3,5-Dibromo-2-hydroxybenzylidene)-4-nitrobenzohydrazide methanol monosolvate

The title compound, C14H9Br2N3O4 center dot CH4O, was obtained as the product of the reaction of 3,5-dibromosalicylaldehyde with 4-nitrobenzohydrazide in methanol. The benzohydrazide molecule is nearly planar, with a maximum deviation of 0.126 (2) angstrom. The mean planes of the two benzene rings make a dihedral angle of 9.3 (3)degrees. Intramolecular O-H center dot center dot center dot N and O-H center dot center dot center dot Br interactions are observed in the benzohydrazide molecule. In the crystal, pairs of adjacent benzohydrazide molecules are linked by two methanol molecules through intermolecular O-H center dot center dot center dot O and N-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bonds, forming a dimer.
