摘要

The uniform monodisperse skull-like structure with diameter of 300-400 nm, rugged surface, many holes and bumps have been successfully synthesized via a simple hydrothermal route. The cubic fluorite structure of the synthesized skull-like CeO2 nanostructures was confirmed by X-ray diffraction. Mixed oxidation states (Ce4+ and Ce3+) were detected in the samples, confirmed using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and Raman spectrum. It has been proven that oxygen vacancies and Ce3+ ions exist at the grain surface and at the grain boundaries. The appearance of emission peaks and the visible luminescence peaks can be attributed to the oxygen related defects.
