In order to investigate the microstructures of directionally-solidified superalloy IC10 and the influence of boron on the microstructures, optical microscope, SEM and EPMA were applied to analyze the microstructure of IC10 and the distribution of elements, especially boron. The results show that the microstructures of cast IC10 consist of gamma, gamma', gamma+gamma' eutectic, script-like and blocky carbides and a small amount of M3B2 and alveolate Ni5Hf. The amount of M3B2 increases with an increase of boron. The structural formula of M3B2 is (Cr1.40Mo0.70W0.34Ni0.32Co0.23)B-1.99. M3B2 precipitates on the crown of gamma + gamma' eutectic instead of with carbides.
