A High-Performance Multilayer Earth Parameter Estimation Rooted in Chebyshev Polynomials

摘要

Electrical parameter estimation of the soil is an essential step for the design of grounding systems, and is based on optimization techniques thatminimize the error between a theoretical function and the field measurements. The determining factor for reaching the most adequate solution depends on a method for solving the indefinite integral of the theoretical function, as well as the accuracy and performance of the parameter estimation. This paper presents a precise and tested technique for achieving these goals known as Chebyshev polynomials. This paper also introduces an error calculation procedure for the truncation of the Chebyshev series. Besides this, this paper points toward an optimization algorithm for estimating soil parameters by use of measurements associated with differential evolution. The effectiveness of this approach has been proven by applying cases extracted from the literature.
