摘要
A cat with chronic renal failure received two 125 mg/kg doses PO q12 of metronidazole. One hour after the second dose the animal experienced acute onset of neurological signs: disorientation, deafness, ataxia, generalized weakness, hypo/analgesia in the extremities and hyperesthesia in the head. The neurological abnormalities improved dramatically within 24 hours after discontinuing metronidazole, except for a brief seizure, and initiating supportive therapy and resolved gradually in about 2 months.
