摘要
Angiotensin AT(1) receptors (AT(1)R) mediate largely detrimental actions leading to hypertension. This article summarizes recent advances in our understanding of AT(1)R function, including the importance of local tissue renin-angiotensin systems (RASs) in the development of cardiovascular disease, the emerging importance of intracellular RASs, the role of reactive oxygen species in AT(1)R actions, AT(1)R-oxidated low-density lipoprotein interactions in atherosclerosis, ligand-independent AT(1)R activation, AT(1)R-activating autoantibodies, AT(1)R-associated proteins, and AT(1)R dimerization and cross talk. Promising areas for future AT(1)R research are identified.
