In the mononuclear title complex, [Ni(C14H6O8S2)(C12H8N2)(2)(H2O)], the Ni-II atom is in a distorted octahedral coordination formed by four N atoms from two chelating 1,10-phenanthroline ligands and by two O atoms, one from a 9,10-dioxoanthracene-1,5-disulfonate ligand and the other from a water molecule. An intramolecular O-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bond occurs. In the crystal, intermolecular O-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bonds link the mononuclear complexes into chains extending parallel to [010]. Furthermore, pi-pi stacking interactions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.5696 (6) angstrom] stabilize the crystal structuure.
