A new 3D framework [Mn-4(5-pmc)(4)(1,1-N-3)(4)](n) (1) composed of a rare Mn-4(II) square as the repeating secondary building unit, representing the first coordination polymer of 5-pyrimidinecarboxylate (5-pmc) has been successfully synthesized and characterized by X-ray single crystal structure analysis.
