A sodium boroxide containing an unusual Na4O4 ladder core

The reaction of dimesitylborinic acid and sodium tert-butoxide in toluene afforded the partially deprotonated boroxide salt, [Na-4(OB{mes}(2))(4)(HOB{mes}(2))(2)], which crystallized from hexane with a laddered Na4O4 motif containing a neutral, disubstituted bonnie acid ligand.
