A new approach for the stereoselective synthesis of the piperidine alkaloid (+)-beta-conhydrine based upon a highly diastereoselective 1,2-nucleophilic addition reaction onto a diastereopure hydrazone and ring-closing metathesis as the key steps has been developed.
