Simple, convenient, and green synthetic protocols are, developed for the one-pot synthesis of 2,3-disubstituted quinazolin-4(1H)-ones through one-pot condensation of arylaldehydes, isatoic anhydride and ammonium acetate in the presence of ZrOCl2-MCM-41 as a highly efficient novel nanocatalyst/nanoreabtor under sonication. The main advantages of this protocol include short reaction times, practical simplicity, high yields, recyclable catalysts, safety, and cheapness of benign solvents.
